About

Corona van Malkenhorst started art lessons at the age of four, which were being taught by her German grandmother who was an artist as well. Later on her German mother – who completed her art studies at the Art Academy of Berlin during the GDR – taught her the technique of high-end recycled art and this is where van Malkenhorst’s journey began. After finishing high school, she took two years off to immerse herself in her mother’s atelier, in order to master the technique and find her own trademark. The art historian van Ouwerkerk, who held a speech at one of her exhibition openings, said: “What makes her work unique is the way she uses light. It seems like if she always wants the observer to move towards a light filled space where he will be triggered to the core to see the world in ways he would have never imagined.”
